This is the longest stretch of the journey and the one that carries the official recognition of the programs. Spanish moves from being a conversational language to a tool for critical reading and writing, framed by Argentine history and geography.

Frequently asked questions about Primary
What level of Spanish is needed to join Primary?
Students need to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at the level of the grade they are joining. Our program is taught entirely in Spanish, so new students take an entrance assessment that lets us understand their level and make sure they can take part fully in the activities of their grade.
How is each student’s grade determined?
The grade is determined mainly by the school year the student is attending at their regular school in the United States.
What is taught in Primary?
Language, Literature, Social Studies, History, Geography and Argentine culture, according to each grade.
Is there homework during the week?
Yes. Students have weekly assignments due every Saturday. They also complete one summative assessment and one take-home project each term.
What is the admissions and assessment process for new students?
After completing the application and confirming available openings, new students take an assessment to determine their level of Spanish and confirm the right grade. Once they pass this stage, they can continue with formal enrolment. The enrolment period for new families is March 15–31.

What subjects are taught at this level?
Language and world Literature, History, Geography and Argentine culture are studied in depth, promoting analysis, writing and critical thinking.
What is the admissions process for new students?
After completing the application and confirming available openings, the student must pass the entrance assessment for the year applied to. Once they pass this stage, they can continue with formal enrolment.
What certification do students receive when they finish at Escuela Argentina?
Students in 5th year receive Escuela Argentina’s graduation diploma. Studies completed at the School have national validity granted by the Ministry of Education of the Argentine Republic through Resolution No. 530/72.
Does the School offer preparation for AP (Advanced Placement) exams?
Yes. The School offers AP Spanish Language and Culture and AP Spanish Literature and Culture for students from 10th grade on. The courses run during the second part of the year and prepare students to take the AP exams administered by the College Board. Escuela Argentina is not an official AP testing site: students should check with their own schools in the United States to secure a place to take the exam.
